I haven’t been around here much, I know. It’s been an eventful summer. And…..it’s about to be an even more eventful Fall. Tomorrow, my boy will start home schooling kindergarten. You can read about our adventures here.

With that, and my twins learning to walk, my time is severely limited. I still plan on running this business, I don’t think I could stop if I tried. But, I will be revamping everything, to make for a more streamlined experience for you and I. My pricing structure and availability will be changing soon, so stay tuned! I’m also going to revamp this space to be more of a blogsite, so pardon our dust as we (i.e. my husband) figure this out. (I’ll be changing my web address as well.)

G & M turned 1 six days ago. Yes, I have two toddlers and no babies. (Well, I don’t buy that, they still look and act like babies, I think I have a few more months.)

We celebrated on Saturday. It was my favoritest party ever. It was low key, and most importantly, alcohol was involved. Not a keg or anything, don’t worry. The twins have at least another year before I’ll expect them to be able to do a keg stand. I decided on donuts and mimosas, and a morning party. It was perfect. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate two beautiful lives.

So Miss Gigi decided to go and bust up her little shoulder. She was crawling on a Boppy pillow and rolled off onto her arm wrong. So far it looks like it isn’t broken, but there could be a small fracture somewhere, since she won’t use that arm. In any event, I’m taking some time off to take care of her, I’ll try to answer emails as usual, but I have canceled my sessions for the week. I’m a little behind on editing as well, please forgive the delay, I’ll try my best to catch up by the weekend!

I sort of forgot about it! You know, between the diaper changing, nursing, laundry, and Mrs. Piggly-Wiggly reading.

I also recently remembered that I have a camera, so I decided to get back on the horse and take some pictures.

I know my twins are 7 months old, but I finally got around to taking pics of their nursery. (In my defense, it’s been so gloomy that the light was always horrible when I wanted to take pics, and today the sun was shining!) I’m really proud of how their nursery turned out. I poured my heart into making it a nice room for them, and I tried to make it a room that would encourage sleep. (Haha) Most everything in their room is as eco-friendly as possible, and definitely budget friendly. I bought organic whenever it was available and I could afford it.

Cribs: Ikea Gulliver I love these cribs, I highly recommend Ikea furniture for the nursery. They use renewable materials, and low or no VOC paint. You can’t beat the price either. I made the mistake of paying $600 for Henry’s crib, and I can’t even use it anymore because it is a dropside. (It’s a beautiful crib, it just turned out to be a complete waste, he outgrew it at only 20 months.)

crib matresses: LA baby 2 in 1 organic mattresses After researching mattresses to death, I decided on these. They aren’t “true” organic crib matresses, those run about $350 a piece. The LA baby mattresses were a compromise, and still better than a mattress with no organic material. If I was buying for a first child, I would spring for a true organic mattress, and save money by getting an Ikea crib. Your baby will spend most of their days sleeping, you don’t want them breathing in all of those yucky chemicals.

crib bedding: I have a mix match of organic sheets in white or natural. I skipped the bedding sets, bumpers are a waste, you can’t use them while the babies are little because of the SIDS risk, and once they are standing, the bumper becomes an escape aide. I have these mattress pads, and these crib sheet savers. I highly recommend the mattress pads, the crib sheet savers, notsomuch.

rocker: Modernica case study rocker This was my big splurge in the nursery. I have to admit, it’s not the most comfortable rocker to nurse in, and it squeaks, so not that great to put baby to sleep. However, it looks awesome, and will transition well into another room in the house once the nursery is dismantled, and I have G&M in “big kid” rooms. (sniff sniff, no more babies.)

mobile: blabla kids I actually purchased this of ebay for half the price.

baskets in the closet: strapping cube bins from land of nod these are awesome except for one orange one that fades onto clothes.

The is the print hanging in the mounted frame is called Orange flock print by W Pate. I can’t find it online anymore, I bought it from here.

The fabric bunting is from this etsy seller.

Paper lanterns are from pier 1.

The rug is from PB teen, no longer available.

orange book shelves: way basics 2 cubes the ones I have are actually one piece, I don’t see them available in orange anymore, but you could definitely stack 2.

The changing table was Henry’s from Babies r Us, no longer available. We purchased this ikea changing table for downstairs, and were very happy with it.

I made the changing pad cover, with this fabric. It’s hard to find now.

The dresser was also Henry’s, from Ikea, no longer available, but this would work too.
